Rhinehart Music Center - IPFW

This extraordinary facility is located near the existing Fine Arts Building and Williams Theater on the Indiana University – Purdue University campus. Its design incorporates the distinguishing aesthetic characteristics of those buildings so it blends contextually with them and complements the overall look of the campus’s northern end.

Wedged in between and enhancing the existing pine grove and north-south pedestrian spine of the campus, the building was designed as a musical bar, crescendo-ing in plan and elevation from north to south, climaxing at its crown jewel: the auditorium, recognized as one of finest acoustically performing spaces in the region and winning accolades for its aesthetic design from the AIA.

Among its many notable features are ...

  • a 250-seat recital hall,
  • classrooms and student practice rooms,
  • choral and instrumental rehearsal halls,
  • faculty studios,
  • a 1,600-seat auditorium,
  • an art gallery,
  • percussion studios,
  • piano labs, and
  • administrative and community offices.
